SIMA - (Market Information Service) The Service The Market Information Service (SIMA) was established by FDTA-Valles (Foundation for the Technical Agricultural Development of the Valleys) in January of 2002 with financing from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in support of its market driven projects. SIMA is a system that compiles, processes and disseminates price information for perishable products at the wholesale level with the objectives of promoting the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and improving the standard of life of Bolivia's rural population. SIMA offers wholesale price information for perishable products from the main wholesale markets of Bolivia, as well as those of Salta (Argentina) and Arequipa (Peru). Data are collected on a daily basis and are introduced into the CPD (Commodity Price Database), based on the descriptions used by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), allowing registry by product, market, origin or other variables. The information is then communicated by radio and is published for its use by individuals and institutions tied to the agricultural sector. Contact us: sima@fdta-valles.org |
